Peachtree Corners Candidate Withdraws From Race

Vera Nercessian, one of the Post 3 candidates for city council, cites "personal reasons" for her decision.

Vera Nercessian, a Post 3 candidate for city council has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Peachtree Corners city election.

Nercessian cited "personal reasons" for her withdrawal. Lynn Ledford, Voter Registration & Elections Director with the Gwinnett County Elections office, confirmed that the elections office had received a letter dated Jan. 12, 2012 from Nercessian announcing her intentions to withdraw.

That leaves three candidates seeking the council seat — Scott Ehrlich, David Proud and Alex Wright.

With Nercessian's withdrawal, 19 candidates remain to fill the six city council seats. Peachtree Corners will hold its first city elections on March 6, 2012 with a run-off date of April 3.

Posts 1, 2 and 3 candidates will represent specific voting districts:

Post 1, Nneka Chuku, Phil Sadd, Joe Sawyer.

Post 2, Jay Lowe, Stephen Peet.

Post 3, Scott Ehrlich, David Proud, Alex Wright.

Posts 4, 5 and 6 are at-large seats:

Post 4, Jeanne Aulbach, Robert Byars, Robert Indech, Gloria Rucks.

Post 5, Lorri Christopher, Brent Johnson, Gray Terry.

Post 6, Ray Cobb, Weare Gratwick, David Leader, Brian Stickney.
