Post 4 City Council candidate Robert Indech answers questions for Peachtree Corners Patch.

Peachtree Corners Patch asked the 20 candidates for the six council seats on the new Peachtree Corners City Council a series of questions relating to city government for the upcoming Municipal Election on March 6, 2012.

Each of the candidates were asked the same set of questions. The last question we posed was to ask each candidate ask and answer his or her own question and provide the answer.

What experience in your background do you think has best prepared you for serving on the Peachtree Corners City Council?

Skills in management of multiple projects in several areas involving practical problems, environmental issues, people management and contracts.

Tell Peachtree Corners readers about your vision for the new city and how you would accomplish it?

My vision for the city is for a fiscally prudent, non-intrusive government that is welcoming as a live-work community, supportive of its entire, very diverse population and supportive of its neighbor cities of Norcross and Berkeley Lake.

What do you think is the greatest challenge facing Peachtree Corners, and how would you approach it?

The greatest challenge for the new city of Peachtree Corners will be encouraging participation of all its residents and avoidance of expensive legal fights over zoning issues formerly managed by the County that could greatly increase its costs. My philosophy is that we should rigidly adhere to the creation concept in the City Charter; a concept of “City-Lite”.

How can we encourage community stability and appeal to multi-generations, i.e. our children and our parents?

Projects that would add to community appeal across generations would include attention to landscaping, litter and “pirate” signage where commercial and multifamily housing areas abut such as along Holcomb Bridge Road, Winters Chapel Road, Spalding Drive, and Peachtree Parkway. Additional landscaping at entry points to the City would aid in its appeal.

As the area has matured, senior housing has notably not been developed. Seniors, like our parents, are stabilizing factors in all communities. Outreach to companies that can convert some older multifamily housing should be a goal, as well as outreach to companies who could move into some of the vacant beautiful buildings in Technology Park.
