Peachtree Corners Mayor and City Council recently announced that it has hired a City Clerk. The recent hire now completes the three key employees who will handle the day to day operations of the city.
Kym Chereck, a 16-year resident of Chattahoochee Station in Peachtree Corners, was selected to fill the City Clerk position.
Chereck has for the past 11 years worked as the Recording Secretary for the City of Alpharetta. She officially begins her new job as City Clerk for Peachtree Corners on Monday, Dec. 3.
"We are very pleased to announce that we have offered Kym the position of City Clerk," said Mayor Mike Mason. "She brings a wealth of experience and it's an added bonus to hire someone who has lived in the community for so long."
The mayor said the City Clerk position is the third and final planned hire for the city.
"We really hit it out of the park on all three," said Council member Weare Gratwick (Post 6) who was speaking of the stellar caliber of the city's three employees, the city manager, community planning director and now the city clerk.
Diana Wheeler, who had also worked for the City of Alpharetta for a number of years, was familiar with Chereck.
"I've worked with her a long time," said Wheeler. "The city could not have made a better choice."
The city had received a number of responses to the position which had been posted on the Peachtree Corners city's website and had narrowed down their choices to four applicants. The mayor and City Manager Julian Jackson made the final decision to hire Chereck.
"I'm very excited to have Kym on board and look forward to her starting," said Jackson.
Chereck, along with Jackson and Wheeler, will be rolling up their sleeves to get the new city hall ready for an open house which is planned for early December.
