Wesleyan School Seeking to Expand its Sports Facilities

The private Peachtree Corners school has requested special permits on residential properties it currently owns in the Spalding Estates subdivision.

Wesleyan School, located on 53 acres fronting S.R. 141 and Spalding Drive, is seeking to expand its sports facilities to nearby residential parcels located adjacent to the campus.

The residential properties are currently part of the Spalding Estates subdivision located across from the Norcross High School on Spalding Drive. The properties are currently zoned R-100 and combined equal over six acres.

Three lots abut the school's current soccer fields and are located in the interior of the subdivision, the remaining two lots are adjacent to the school's existing tennis courts near the intersection of Spalding Drive and Spalding Terrace.

Robert Binion, Chairman, of the Board of Trustees for Wesleyan School filed a letter of intent requesting relocating "one exisiting house and remove two others" to expand its soccer fields.

In addition, the school is requesting a special permit use to "construct four additional tennis courts on property currently owned by the school." This property consists of two parcels of some 3.5 acres and is located on the corner of Spalding Terrace and Spalding Drive.

The Planning Commission has reviewed the request and will submit its recommendation to the City Council in December.
