The Official Initials?

I would like to make a humble suggestion.Β I'm not sure if it's been done yet, but methinks it's about time to make Peachtree Corners' initials official. You know how you drive around town and see those cutesy oval car stickers proudly promoting Panama City Beach and other locations with those official initials? OK, we're not Panama City, but Peachtree Corners worked hard to become a distinct destination.

First things first: Sorry folks, but our friends down there in Peachtree City have PTC. Oh by the way, good luck on Tuesday's runoff, Vanessa. You see, my ole co-worker Vanessa is in a mayoral runoff down there. No, I'm not conceding to my friend Vanessa that she and her neighbors own PTC, but hey, they've been around a bit longer than us, so they are PTC. Β Also, I'm not in the business of writing endorsements, but from personal experience, Vanessa is one smart cookie - just food for thought for those in Peachtree City.

So, what initials should Peachtree Corners receive? Peachtree Corners is certainly not PC for obvious reasons. When running around here, I feel as though I cannot help but lurch to the right if you know what I mean. To me, PEC sounds like it would stand for some type of physical education curriculum. PCH just gives the impression of the peach without the corners. PCO seems to me like something by the ocean and trust me, this area does not conjure up images anywhere near the ocean. I think Peachtree Corners ought to go with the initials PCR. The lettering covers the gamut from Peachtree to The Corners.

Once we could settle on PCR, I would love to see one of those oval bumper stickers mass produced with PCR in bold black lettering and under it in smaller font displaying PEACHTREE CORNERS and perhaps under that in smaller type, the city's website. Maybe another set of stickers would be a bit cuter and simply say, THE CORNERS under PCR, making it all a conversation piece.

The oval stickers are a cute idea. Perhaps those stickers promote tourism to those locations. In Peachtree Corners' case, it would pretty much be local tourism that could draw more folks over to the area for shopping, dining and perhaps some lodging. Most of all, the oval stickers give an area a sense of identity and pride.

So again, if the official initials have not been decided upon, I humbly suggest this idea.
