3 from Norcross High Named Gates Millennium Scholars, Earn Full Rides in College
In all, 15 seniors from Gwinnett Public Schools were given the award.
Fifteen seniors from Gwinnett County Public Schools have been named 2014 Gates Millennium Scholars, earning them a full ride in college.
The group represents the largest number of Gwinnett students to earn the recognition in one school year.
Included in the group are three students from Norcross High School.

Thien-Phuoc Do, Josselyn Garcia and Benazir Haseen all will have their college careers paid for with the award.

The program, funded by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, promotes academic excellence for outstanding minority low-income students, says a GCPS press release.
In addition to full scholarships for undergraduate studies, Gates Millennium Scholars also qualify for funding to cover graduate and doctoral work in the areas of computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.
