GCPS Board Challenger Contributions Exceed $6,000

Falk is seeking the District III seat, which includes some Suwanee schools.

Jen Falk, who is seeking election to the Gwinnett District III school board seat, has surpassed $6,000 in cash and in-kind campaign contributions, according to the latest data filed with state officials.

Falk, a Berkeley Lake resident, lists several itemized cash contributions from Gwinnett and from Duluth, which has several schools in that district.

Among the latest contributors:

  • Sabrina Smith, a Lawrenceville teaching consultant ($100);
  • Jenny Jensen, a Duluth attorney ($100);
  • Frugally Yours, a Duluth business ($100);
  • Kathy Galbreath, a Duluth financial services worker ($100).

In-kind contributions are those made in such things as goods and services. Falk's cash contributions exceed $5,500.

She is seeking the seat currently held by Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, a Republican.

Murphy's contribution totals through June are about $6,300.

District III includes North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge, Duluth and Norcross high schools.

So pleased to have a choice to vote FOR a candidate rather than AGAINST an incumbent. Jen Falk never ceases to amaze me with her genuine interest in doing what is right for all kids. Constantly impressed by her depth of understanding of the issues....

I think it impressive for a new candidate (a non-politician at that) to raise as much money as an incumbent who has been in office for over 15 years. And raise that amount of money in small / individual donations. She must be doing something right.... If you haven't checked into Jen Falk yet, you owe it to yourself to visit her website before you vote. She genuinely cares about all kids and has an impressive command of the issues.

I am proud to have known Jen Falk for several years and have been most impressed with her integrity and that she was unafraid to take a stand to do what is right and in the best interest of children. I am thrilled that she is running for the Gwinnett school board. As an advocate for people with disabilities, I want to recognize Jen for her work in helping to bring languages to Parent to Parent of Georgia and her involvement with the Safe Schools Coalition to eliminate seclusion rooms for ALL children in Georgia.
