GCPS Board Challenger Jen Falk's Contributions Exceed $6,000

Falk is seeking the District III seat, which includes schools in Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake.

Jen Falk, who is seeking election to the Gwinnett District III school board seat, has surpassed $6,000 in cash and in-kind campaign contributions, according to the latest data filed with state officials.

Falk, a Berkeley Lake resident, lists several itemized cash contributions from Gwinnett and from Duluth, which has several schools in that district.

Among the latest contributors:

  • Sabrina Smith, a Lawrenceville teaching consultant ($100);
  • Jenny Jensen, a Duluth attorney ($100);
  • Frugally Yours, a Duluth business ($100);
  • Kathy Galbreath, a Duluth financial services worker ($100).

In-kind contributions are those made in such things as goods and services. Falk's cash contributions exceed $5,500.

She is seeking the seat currently held by Dr. Mary Kay Murphy, a Republican.

Murphy's contribution totals through June are about $6,300.

District III includes Norcross, Duluth, Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett high schools.

Jen Falk. Do an internet search and look at the difference in the information each candidate provides. For those new to District III and those that are happy because of how their school compare's to other GCPS schools, know that the incumbent has not been effective in District III. We are Gwinnett County's "West Coast" and have been losing businesses and neighbors to North Fulton because GCPS. Most recently, North Fulton's SAT scores stomped even our highest performing Gwinnett schools. The incumbent has played a role in this by not listening nor responding to ALL her constituents. Give your candidates a call or send an e-mail and see for yourself.

I am voting for Falk because she seems genuinely concerned about the future of the schools in Peachtree Corners and Gwinnett county. My experiences with Dr Murphy over the past 4 years have left me unimpressed and concerned about the lack of support from her. She has no solutions to solve issues such as overcrowding in our schools and doesn't care to discuss it and as far as I can tell exists only to make empty commentary and support Wilbanks. It's time to throw out the career board members and see what we can do with some fresh, invigorated representatives.

Another thing I like about Jen is her interest in reducing the administrative overhead cost in GCPS and returning that money to local schools. Did you see the article about Wilbanks salary? Rediculous.

MK Murphy is a joke. An old one that is not funny.

This touches one of the problems with a Fri pick up schedule. Folks who take weekend trips areRead More caught with either leaving the cans out or missing out by not putting their trash out. Since homeowners have zero choices under our government mandated trash plan to pay in advance for service without the ability to change carriers with different pick up dates, leaving the cans out is the results. IF the new city can change our pickup day to Mon or Tue this problem would be stopped or reduced

This is one of those "government mandated" services that actually are worth while. ImagineRead More 5 different garbage collectors going around PC every week stopping at every 5th home. But perhaps the city will attempt to get earlier in the week service for us. My household has good relations with our neighbors and they are more than happy to do the chore for us, as we they.
