Gwinnett Students Surpass State in 2012 CRCT Results

The 2011-2012 CRCT results are in, and Gwinnett County Public School students exceed state averages.

Gwinnett County's students continue to surpass their peers across the state in the Georgia's Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, or CRCT.

According to a press release from Gwinnett County Public Schools, students' mean scores were above the state averages in all content areas -- reading, language arts, math, science and social students -- at all grade levels. For those meeting or exceeding standards, Gwinnett County test-takers did better than their peers, as well.

The highest level -- Level 3 -- also saw more Gwinnett County students than their counterparts in nearly every subject, the district press release said.

The test, administered in April, measures what pupils in third through eighth grades should know and be able to do at their grade levels in the five test areas based on Georgia’s Performance Standards (GPS) curriculum. About 12,000 pupils took the test at each grade level in Gwinnett County.

A student’s performance falls into one of three performance levels or standards: Level 1, for students who do not meet the standard; Level 2, for students who meet the standard; and Level 3, for students who exceed standards.
