Moms Band Together to Support Local Preschool

Fundraisers and schools are synonymous. If you have ever had a child in school, you have been asked to sell cookie dough, wrapping paper or meet at a local restaurant for a spirt night.

The moms of Winters Chapel United Methodist Preschool are leveraging their professional backgrounds and entrepreneurial skills to improve its primary fundraiser - its consignment sales.

In the past, the school has outsourced the management of such sales. however, beginning with the upcoming Spring Sale, the school's fundraiser will be managed by a group of super moms and run entirely by volunteers.

"We wanted our students to be the ultimate beneficiaries of the sale," explained Preschool Director Mary Trompeter. "Who better to ensure that than the moms?

The school's consignment sale will be held in the church's Fellowship Hall on the following dates:

• Wednesday, April 25: 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. (no children under 12 please)
• Thursday, April 26: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m and 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
• Friday, April 27: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Saturday, April 28: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (many things 1/2 price)

The deadline to register to be a seller is midnight on Sunday, April 22. This is one of the last opportunities of the year to consign all of your kid's gently used spring and summer items - and free up some closet space.

Volunteers will have a chance to pre-shop the sale on Tuesday, April 24 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Sellers can pre-shop the regular sale on Wednesday, April 25 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

"The school benefits from the sale in the form of scholarships for families in need, teacher training and pay, in upgrades to the school and general operational costs," said Trompeter.
