NHS's incoming principal, Will Bishop, did not escape the spotlight either. The Chapins presented a few gag gifts before the gathering of some 75 or so who attended the evening's event.

Patterson, it was discovered, has a passion for shoes so his farewell gift was a pair of blue suede shoes. "We wanted you to have something blue to remember us by," said Jenny Chapin when presenting the gift.
