Norcross High 18th in Georgia in Best U.S. High School Rankings

But only seven schools from Gwinnett County made the U.S. News & World Report list.

Norcross High School was ranked 18th in Georgia on the 2014 Best High School Rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

That was second among Gwinnett County schools that made the list. Norcross was ranked 507th nationally.

Gwinnett School of Math, Science and Technology in Lawrenceville was listed No. 3 on the 2014 Best High School Rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

More than 19,000 schools were ranked by the news organization; 104 Georgia schools were considered among the nation’s best.

U.S. News awarded gold, silver and bronze medals based on state assessments and college preparation. Gold and silver medalists made the rankings; others received national recognition. Norcross was a silver medalist.

Notable was the absence of many Gwinnett schools among the 51 in the state to receive gold or silver designation. Only seven county schools earned those distinctions: (Click on the school’s name to see the U.S. News’ review):

Gwinnett School of Math, Science, & Technology, ranked first in Georgia (third in U.S.); Norcross, 18th (507th); Parkview, 19th (562nd); Duluth, 25th (852nd); Collins Hill, 27th (992nd); Central Gwinnett, 30th (1,054th); Buford, 33rd (1,171st).
