Our Student of the Week: Simpson Elementary School's Derek Mai

The first grader in Mrs. Dausch's class received the Peachtree Corners Rotary Club of the Week award.

is proud to recognize Derek Mai from Mrs. Dausch’s first grade class as our Peachtree Corners Rotary Club Student of the Week.

At this week's Rotary luncheon Derek was recognized by his teacher with a framed proclamation that read:

Derek has attended Simpson Elementary since kindergarten, and we are very proud of the exceptional learner and leader he has become in such a short amount of time.

As a learner, he accepts every challenge given to him by his teachers.  While those kinds of expectations and demands might be enough for some, Derek is also motivated to push himself even further. Whatever the task, Derek strives to be the best at it. He shows an enthusiasm for learning and works hard each and every day.

This year, Derek has exemplified stellar leadership and hard work. He shows this dedication by setting the behavioral and academic example for his fellow classmates.  Derek also truly understands the meaning of lending a helping hand. His spirit of cooperation is reflected through a willingness to always help his classmates.

Derek has many interests. He enjoys writing stories, playing with his friends, spending time with his family, and creating art work. When he grows up, he aspires to be a veterinarian.

We are honored that Derek Mai is the Rotary’s Student of the Week.  He is an outstanding young man who reflects Simpson Elementary’s Superstar Norms and Standards of Leadership.
