Pinckneyville Middle Gets New Principal

Marci Sledge takes over for the school, as the current principal is retiring.

The Gwinnett County school board has appointed a veteran educator to take over the helm of Pinckneyville Middle School.

In a special called meeting May 9, board members approved a transfer of Marci Sledge to Pinckneyville Middle School. She is currently the principal at Trip Elementary in Grayson.

In addition, she is a 2007 graduate of the district's Quality-Plus Leader Academy. She takes over for Wanda Yeargin, who is retiring.

Her appointment is effective July 1.

1999-2003 -- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Teacher, Norcross High

1996-1999 -- 8th Grade Physical and Earth Science Teacher, John Muir Middle, Los Angeles Unified School District

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in communication – University of Tulsa

Science certification – Brandeis University

Teaching certification – California State University, Dominguez Hills

Master’s degree in educational leadership – Georgia State University

Specialist’s degree in education administration and policy  – University of Georgia
