UPDATE: Vehicle Driver Charged With School Bus Accident

Only one Peachtree Elementary school student was on the bus when it was hit from behind around 7:30 a.m. The student was not hurt, but the bus driver suffered minor injuries.

Update: Monday, Dec. 9, 4:30 p.m.

A Gwinnett school bus driver was slightly injured when a Cadillac SRX, driven by a Peachtree Corners man, rear-ended the bus she was driving Monday morning.

The school bus received only slight damage to the back bumper, but the driver, who complained of neck and back pain, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth.

The student on the bus, a 5-year-old Peachtree Elementary student, was uninjured.

The driver of the Cadillac, who admitted to police that he was not paying attention when he hit the bus, was found at fault for the accident and was issued a citation.

His vehicle received extensive damage to the entire front of the car and was removed by a wrecker service. He was uninjured in the accident.

Monday started off with an accident for one Peachtree Elementary School student and bus driver.

A school bus was rear ended around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Medlock Bridge Road and North Hampton Ridge reported Jorge Quintana, spokesperson for Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Only one student was riding the school bus at the time and has been transported by another bus to Peachtree Elementary School. The student was not injured.

Quintana said the school bus driver had minor injuries. No other details are available at this time. Patch will follow up as more information becomes available.

"I passed this wreck this am....looked like a recent model silver Cadillac crossover vehicle that hit the back of the bus. Glad no kids were hurt and hopefully no one else was." Laura Roof, via Facebook post.

yeah, that silver vehicle took a beating. Hope everyone was OK in there too. Glad it sounds like all were OK.

Too bad the student didn't think about "neck and back" pain soon enough.
