Wesleyan, Norcross High Students Receive National Merit Scholarships

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced college-sponsored winners on May 29.

Several students attending schools in the Peachtree Corners area learned this week that they are recipients of National Merit college-sponsored scholarships.

The students are:

  • Jeffrey L. Chang, a Wesleyan School graduating senior, who plans to study computer science at Georgia Tech
  • Emily G. Dardaman, a Wesleyan School graduating senior, who plans to study advertising at the University of Georgia
  • Emma C. Reidy, a Norcross High graduating senior, who plans to study education at Emory University

About 20 Gwinnett County graduates received the award, which is financed by colleges and universities. There were 2,500 winners across the country.

The scholarships provide $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

An additional group of scholars will be announced in July, which will bring the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2013 competition to 4,500.
