Who Wants to be a Veterinarian?

The UGA Vet School in Athens, Ga., invites high school students to come visit.

Want to be a veterinarian? Register on line for a visit to the and get some firsthand insights about careers in veterinary medicine. The school will start accepting names on August 8 for its Sept. 26 “Vet School for a Day” program.

This marks the first year that South Carolina students can join students from Georgia for the event. It's open to high school juniors and seniors.

This runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a tour of the teaching hospital, a panel discussion by faculty veterinarians and the chance to meet veterinary student leaders. Participants will learn about the high admission standards and what they need to study to be ready for vet school.

Registration will be open through Sept. 7. All students must be accompanied by an adult, a parent, counselor or teacher. While students attend and eat for free, the adults pay $15 for food on the day of the event.

“Vet School for a Day” is sponsored by the David Forehand Foundation, created in memory of alumnus Dr. David Forehand.
