Fowler YMCA's Teens' Backpack Drive a Success
Thanks to Peachtree Corners YMCA's teen program children at a local elementary school have backpacks filled with school supplies.
Looking back at this school year, kids in the teen program at have had an awesome year! Our teens volunteered over 400 hours of their time to our community, their latest project being a backpack-school supply drive.
There are many families in our community who cannot afford backpacks and the list of required supplies. Thanks to the success of the Y's teen backpack drive, students at Beaver Ridge Elementary School now have backpacks filled with the required supplies to finish out their school year.
The backpack drive is one of the many ways Y teens are learning to take an active role in strengthening their community. "In our program we strive to provide teens with the knowledge and training to help serve others while shaping a healthy lifestyle for themselves," said Craig Lovingood, Teen Coordinator.

The teens meet every day before and after school. In addition to service-learning projects, teens have fun, spend time with friends in the Teen Center, participate in group fitness classes, receive homework assistance and learn new things.
