A Nearby Tiger Sighting

The world's former No. 1 golfer, Tiger Woods, was spotted today playing a practice round at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

Tiger Woods, who just recently announced through his agent that he would be playing in the upcoming PGA Championship (Aug. 11-14), was spotted today playing a practice round on the Highland Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club the site of this year's final major.

A four-time PGA Championship winner, Woods played in the Masters Tournament but sat out the U.S. Open and British Open due to an injury to his left leg.

Woods formally entered the PGA Championship on July 29. He has been out of golf for nearly three months so that injuries to his leg can properly heal. Before heading to Atlanta, he will make his return at this week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone.

PGA of America spokesman Julius Mason said that Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, told him that as long as everything goes well at Firestone and there are no complications to his left leg, that Woods intends to play the PGA Championship.

When Woods finally gets back to golf, he will be ending an 11-week break. And he'll be playing without long-time caddy Steve Williams. Woods announced on his website July 20 that Williams would no longer be caddying for him. A replacement caddy has not been named at this date.

Woods used his website to announce his return on July 28. He posted on his Twitter account that he’s β€œfeeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!”
