Atlanta Braves Won't Return to Gwinnett in 2013

The major league team will take its 'Future Stars' game to Mississippi this year.

Despite a sold-out crowd at Coolray Field last April, the Atlanta Braves won't return to Gwinnett for an encore in 2013.

The major league team, which played an exhibition game vs. its "Future Stars" as a warmup for the 2012 season, will do the same in Mississippi this year. On Saturday, March 30, Atlanta will take on its minor-league stars in Pearl, Miss., home of the Class AA Mississippi Braves.

In the 2012 game, the Future Stars were managed by former Atlanta manager Bobby Cox. .

Gwinnett Braves spokesperson Dave Lezotte said Friday (January 4) that he has been told that the Future Stars game will return to Coolray "in the near future."

Of course, some Gwinnett Braves players could be participating in the 2013 Future Stars game in Mississippi.

The G-Braves will begin their fifth season at Coolray Field on April 4.
