Blue Devils Show Their Stuff at Annual Lift-a-Thon

The Norcross JVs and varsity teams took to the field Friday night, July 19, for the football team's annual Lift-a-Thon fundraiser.

The team competed in weight-lifting, bench press and the 40-yard dash. Also high on the competition was the chance to dunk the coach.

Patch caught Head Coach Keith Maloof and Offensive Line Coach Dale Farr taking their turns as being targets for anyone willing to through down a buck for four throws and a chance to dunk the coach in a barrel of water.

Also warming up for the coming season were the parent volunteers who will be running the homeside concession stand. Three of the moms, Ann McWilliams, Martine Hunter and Thailia Autrey, were sporting their newly designed T-shirts they'll be wearing this season.

Some 15 parent volunteers work in the concession stand from 3:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. every home game. Last season they prepared 400 burgers, 80 pounds of French fries and 400 hotdogs for the hungry crowds.

The Norcross 2013-14 football season is just four and a half weeks away. The 2012 AAAAAA State Champions face Booker T. Washington from Miami, Fla, Aug. 24. The game will be broadcast on national television (ESPN). It's the Blue Devils 59th varsity football season.
