Former Masters Champions to Play in Gwinnett Tournament

Some of the legends of golf will be at TPC Sugarloaf to play in the Greater Gwinnett Championship next week.

In Georgia, April always means the Masters Tournament. And in 2013, there's something of a Gwinnett connection.

Peachtree Corners golf fans have the chance to see some of the past Masters champions next week. A number of the legendary golfers who teed it up on Thursday (April 11) in Augusta also are scheduled to appear in the Greater Gwinnett Championship at TPC Sugarloaf next week.

Former Masters champions Tom Watson and Larry Mize are among the players who reportedly will make the drive from Augusta National to Duluth for the 54-hole Champions Tour event that begins April 19.

Craig Stadler (1982) and Mark O'Meara (1998) are also on the list of committed players for the GGC tourney who are also playing in Augusta, the first of the year's four major golf tourneys.

Watson is perhaps the biggest name scheduled for the Sugarloaf event. He has won the Masters twice (1977, '81) and has a total of eight major tournament victories on the regular PGA Tour.
