Gwinnett Braves Lose; Pitcher Suffers Head Injury

The Gwinnett Braves lost the final game of their homestand 4-2 Thursday at Coolray Field, but the game was overshadowed by an injury to pitcher Erik Cordier.

Cordier was struck in the head by a line drive in the sixth inning, and was taken from the field on a stretcher. He was conscious and moving his arms and legs when taken to Gwinnett Medical Center.

Syracuse right fielder Jesus Valdez was 1-for-3 with his 6th RBI of the series, and first baseman Chris Marrero was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Syracuse.

For the G-Braves, outfielder Matt Young was 2-for-4. The G-Braves (38-35) remained in second place in the International League South.

Gwinnett now hits the road, and will return to Coolray Field on July 4.
