Gwinnett Braves Lose Rain-Shortened Game

Durham ahead when thunderstorm hits Coolray Field.

The thunderstorm that struck the Gwinnett County area Tuesday night played havoc with the Gwinnett Braves' game at Coolray Field. The Durham Bulls were ahead, 3-1, in the sixth inning when the game was halted and eventually called.

Gwinnett (46-39) and Durham are now tied for first in the International League South.

G-Braves pitcher Todd Redmond (5-8) allowed two home runs in the fifth inning that turned out to be the decisive blows. Matt Young drove in Ruben Gotay with for the only G-Braves run.

Gwinnett now travels to Charlotte for a two-game series. Julio Teheran (9-1, 1.79 ERA) will start on the mound for Gwinnett.
