High School Baseball Teams Play in Two-Day Event at Coolray

Ten high school teams, including Duluth High where a number of Peachtree Corners students attend, will compete on March 8-9, 2013.

Baseball begins for 2013 this week at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, as 10 high school teams from Gwinnett and Forsyth counties compete in a two-day, five-game event.

On March 8-9, teams from South Gwinnett, Mountain View, Lanier, North Gwinnett, Providence Christian, Duluth, Collins Hill, Brookwood, North Forsyth and Peachtree Ridge will take to the diamond in the event's debut.

“We’ve had singular events before, showcasing some top high school baseball teams in the area,” Gwinnett Braves General Manager North Johnson said in a news release.

“Through the efforts of the community and our staff, we have expanded to welcome the largest high school showcase in the history of Coolray Field. We want Coolray Field to be an outlet for the entire county and surrounding areas so they can take part in this one-of-a-kind experience."

March 8, 4 p.m.: South Gwinnett vs. Mountain View;

March 8, 6:30 p.m.: Lanier vs. North Gwinnett;

March 9, 2 p.m.: Providence Christian vs. Duluth;

March 9, 4:30 p.m.: Collins Hill vs. Brookwood;

March 9, 7 p.m.: North Forsyth vs. Peachtree Ridge.
