Jones Bridge Park Hosts Kids Fishing Derby

It was a day of water and sun for kids and adults alike who joined in on this annual day of fun.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Buford Trout Hatchery provided over 2,500 rainbow trout ranging in size from approximately nine inches to 15 inches in length. The fish were periodically transferred in five gallon buckets from the Hatchery truck to the Chattahoochee River.

A fishing party for kids of all ages was hosted by local Kiwanis Club members from Johns Creek, Circle K International, the Key Club, Builders Club,Β  Aktion Club and K-Kids. Fishing poles and bait were provided on a first come, first served basis and the Kiwanians quickly ran out of poles so they began to sign kids up for the next returned fishing pole.

The festive event even saw family cookouts being prepared by the moms, grandmothers and aunts while the fathers took to the Chattahoochee with their sons and daughters.
