McCann May Rehab With Gwinnett Braves

Gwinnett resident could be at Coolray Field this weekend.

Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann, a Duluth High grad and Gwinnett resident, is likely to begin a rehab stint this weekend at Coolray Field.

A published report on www.braves.com said that McCann, a frequent major league All Star since his rookie year of 2005, might be in a G-Braves uniform for Friday's game vs. Pawtucket (7:05 p.m.)

McCann has been on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his left side since July 26. It is not known whether McCann would play catcher in Gwinnett. Pawtucket is an American League affiliate, so McCann would be able to be the G-Braves' designated hitter.Β
