Norcross, Buford, GAC All Reach Football Semifinals

Three of Gwinnett County's six teams in the state quarterfinals Friday won to advance in the GHSA playoffs.

Friday was a great night for high school football fans in Norcross. Buford boosters are pretty happy, too.

Norcross High, Greater Atlanta Christian School and Buford High all won their Georgia High School Association quarterfinal games Friday night and will advance to next week's semifinals.

Undefeated Norcross (13-0) won at Camden County 34-20, knocking off one of the state's perennial large-school powers. The Blue Devils took a 19-14 halftime lead, then pulled away to reach their first semifinal in school history.

Norcross will host Colquitt County next week.

Greater Atlanta Christian beat visiting Early County 27-24 in a Class AA quarterfinal game played in Norcross. The Spartans (10-3) will be at Jefferson next week.

In Class AAA, eight-time state champ Buford reached another semifinal by beating Carver of Columbus 31-7 Friday. The Wolves (10-3) will play at Cartersville in the semis.

Three other Gwinnett County teams lost Friday in their bids to advance in Class AAAAAA. Parkview lost to Colquitt County 31-15, Mill Creek lost to North Cobb 42-35 and North Gwinnett lost to Lovejoy 21-6.

This touches one of the problems with a Fri pick up schedule. Folks who take weekend trips areRead More caught with either leaving the cans out or missing out by not putting their trash out. Since homeowners have zero choices under our government mandated trash plan to pay in advance for service without the ability to change carriers with different pick up dates, leaving the cans out is the results. IF the new city can change our pickup day to Mon or Tue this problem would be stopped or reduced

This is one of those "government mandated" services that actually are worth while. ImagineRead More 5 different garbage collectors going around PC every week stopping at every 5th home. But perhaps the city will attempt to get earlier in the week service for us. My household has good relations with our neighbors and they are more than happy to do the chore for us, as we they.

It's my understanding that a Monday or Tuesday pickup day is one of the stipulations in the RFP theRead More city sent out. You can review the RFP on the city's website.
