Roller skating is once again becoming a popular activity – if you don’t believe it visit the Roller Skating Camp in Peachtree Corners and watch the kids as they roll, race and sometimes fall, across the gym floor, in skates designed to be used on hard wood floors.
This is a fun, comprehensive “learn to skate” program held in the Fowler Y gym. The participants learn to stop, turn, crossover, skate backwards and fall correctly in a fun, supervised environment. Due to its mounting popularity Skate Camp will be offered again the week of July 16.
It is amazing to watch the children put on skates for the first time and see the transition as they gain confidence and discover they can make the eight wheels turn without falling. They can stop without crashing into the wall. By the end of the week, the kids are zipping around the gym as if they have been skating since they could walk!
Skating is fun but carries a little “secret.” It is great exercise! Skating is one of the best ways to stay fit. It helps reduce weight gain and also improves concentration.
If you are looking for a fun and healthy activity for your child stop by the YMCA and sign him or her up for the July Skate Camp.
