This Week's High School Football Predictions

Wesleyan goes long to get an easy victory this week.

I was humbled a bit last week in my predictions of high-school football games played in Patch coverage areas from Peachtree Corners to Stone Mountain.

After a can-you-believe-it 21-3 record the first week, I cooled off to a 16-6 mark last week (38-9 overall). I only missed badly on one pick. Really.

So, let's lace 'em up for another week. Are you ready?

at Twiggs County: Last week’s 27-10 loss at home to Elbert County is past and forgotten. Rest assured of that. The Wolves (1-1) are still state-ranked in Class A and will be in the playoff mix at the end of the regular season. Wesleyan should have no problem in this week’s game against Twiggs County, which has been outscored 105-14 in two losses. The only problem is the trip to Jeffersonville, Ga. (about 2 ½ hours) to do the work. Wesleyan 48, Twiggs County 7.

Roswell at : This is a matchup of teams heading in different directions. Roswell saw a two-touchdown lead over Collins Hills evaporate in its season-opener and hasn’t looked the same since. The Hornets (0-2) were beaten soundly 31-2 last week by Peachtree Ridge. Both of their losses have been on their home field. Norcross (2-0) has been impressive in wins over Dacula and Parkview, and the Blue Devils field one of the more balanced offense-defense lineups in the ‘burbs. And the Blue Devils can be awfully good on their home field. Norcross 35, Roswell 14.
