Wheelchair Tennis Exhibition Rolls at The Atlanta Tennis Championships

Wheelchair athletes show their stuff at Peachtree Corners Racquet Club of The South.

As a prelude to the start of regular match-play at The Atlanta Tennis Championships Wednesday, wheelchair athletes from around the country put on an exhibition of tennis ability from a sitting position.

The only variance from regular tennis rules is that you get one more bounce. The first bounce has to be "in" - the second bounce can be anywhere, but then the ball has to be returned and kept in play to continue the point. Other than that one concession, all of the regular rules of tennis apply.

Participants also showed the Wheelchair Run-n-Roll, where an able-bodied tennis player partners with a wheelchair athlete in doubles.
