Staying Fit and Fabulous in the Golden Years

Age has no boundaries for the Y's active seniors.

As the saying goes “Age is a state of mind” and never has that been truer than for the active seniors at Peachtree Corners' .

”One of my favorite classes to teach is my senior class”, said Gina Lembo, wellness coordinator at Fowler. “There is just something about our active older adult group that is very special.  They are enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated to living life to the fullest.”

“It gives me a lift each day. Coming to the Y is a big part of my life,” says Glynda Jolley.  Many other women in her class report the same feeling.  Louise Hager adds, “There is a good group of seniors that come almost every day. You see the same people here all the time and it’s a very friendly atmosphere.”

In its continued effort to bring active adults and seniors the opportunity to stay active and grow in spirit, mind and body, Fowler Y has a full and varied calendar.  One of the highlights of the fall programming is a two-night trip to the Biltmore Estates in Asheville.

The Y offers classes for all ages, all levels and all interests. From low-impact exercise and chair classes, stretching and strength training to indoor cycling, water exercise, and yoga, you’ll find a group class that’s fun, supportive and keeps you moving.
