Zachary Healy Finishes in Top 15 at Georgia Amateur Championship

The Peachtree Corners resident and rising senior at Norcross High, finished the state's top amateur event with a 9-over 293.

Peachtree Corners' Zachary Healy finished in the top 15 of golfers at the 92nd annual Georgia Amateur Championship.

Healy, a rising senior at Norcross High, finished with 9-over-par 293, tying Mookie DeMoss of Athens for 13th place in the stroke play event. The two will be Georgia Bulldog team mates next year.

Healy recently committed to golf for the University of Georgia. DeMoss, who graduated from Providence Christian Academy, already plays for the Bulldogs.

The championship took place in July 11-14 at the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw. Jimmy Beck of Columbus, claimed the championship with a score of 1-over-par, 285.

The Georgia Amateur Championship is conducted by the Georgia State Golf Association and brings together 144 of the state's best male amateur golfers for the prestigious state title first won by Bobby Jones in 1916.

Pinetree Country Club has hosted this event for the fourth time, and first since 2003. This week Pinetree played to 7,108 yards and a par 71.
