On the first day of its two-day festival to observe its new status as Gwinnett County's newest city crowds came to enjoy the day that was filled with food, entertainment, shopping and more.

The Peachtree Corners City Celebration had thousands of visitors come out during the hottest weekend on record for 2012.

Saturday's festivities included different performances by bands, artists, dancers and others on the main stage, artist's booths, informational booths, games, food, a road race and a car show that featured some nearly 100 classic cars.

The two-day festival concludes on Sunday. The lineup of events includes entertainment, shopping, a parade and a proclamation from the city's new mayor announcing that on July 1, 2012 Peachtree Corners officially becomes a city.
