Kids, Parents Enjoy Free Fishing Day on the Chattahoochee River
The Jones Bridge Park in Peachtree Corners was packed on Saturday with over 500 children and adults at the Gwinnett County Park.
The annual Kids Fishing Day at Jones Bridge Park in Peachtree Corners, which is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Alpharetta, drew over 500 children and adults who took advantage of a free day of fishing on the Chattahoochee River Saturday (June 1) morning.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Buford Trout Hatchery provided over 2,500 rainbow trout ranging in size from approximately nine inches to 15 inches in length. The fish were periodically transferred in five gallon buckets from the Hatchery truck to the Chattahoochee River.
Fishing poles and bait were provided on a first come, first served basis and the Kiwanians quickly ran out of the 60 poles they had on hand so they began to sign kids up for the next returned fishing pole.
