UPCCA Blog
This is the first in an ongoing series of posts informing our Peachtree Corners community about our city initiative.
The United Peachtree Corners Civic Association (UPCCA) was established in 1993 in response to land use concerns in the unincorporated part of western Gwinnett known as Peachtree Corners. Homeowners joined together to form this umbrella group of neighborhood homeowners. Since that time, the UPCCA has worked on many projects to foster a sense of community and to maintain and improve our quality of life.
These projects include implementing the Peachtree Corners Overlay District in 2007 to ensure development met high standards. The Peachtree Parkway Improvement Project (PPIP) was implemented to maintain the medians along Peachtree Parkway. Our sense of community is enhanced by the Peachtree Corners street sign topper program and the monument sign on Peachtree Parkway.
The UPCCA has also been very involved over time on zoning issues. The most recent issue involved the request for rezoning of the Sturbridge Square apartments to allow a big box retailer to build on the site. Peachtree Corners residents felt that this development was inconsistent with the community’s vision for this area. The UPCCA, representing residents, met with the developers to review the project based on compliance with the requirements of our Overlay District. Based on this meeting, the developers have tabled their request for now.

Today, the UPCCA is leading the Peachtree Corners city initiative. Our goal for this blog is to keep our Peachtree Corners community informed. We will be posting updates and information about the incorporation process and other issues that impact our community.

In our next blog, we will describe the events and process that preceded the signing of HB 396 by Gov. Nathan Deal last week. This bill approved our city charter and authorized the city referendum to be held in November.
