Bassett Hound-Lab Mix Ready for Adoption

Abandoned on a busy street, Putt-Putt was rescued by an Angels Among Us Pet Rescue volunteer.

Putt-Putt is a male Bassett Hound/Lab mix who is approximately 2 years old and weighs around 55 pounds.

The Puttmeister, as his wonderful foster mom calls him, is neutered, house and crate-trained, and is up-to-date on all his vetting, shots and has been microchipped.

Putt-Putt has had a rough start to his life, being abandoned by his his former owners by being put out of their car onto a busy street.  A good Samaritan saw him being tossed out of the car and contacted animal control in Walton county.  He was then brought into the shelter as a stray and was rescued from being euthanized by a volunteer of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.

Because of such a rough start, this boy has proven to be a strong leader who loves to take charge!  Even though he has a strong personality, he has zero aggression issues, he just needs an owner who will not allow Putt's assertive personality to overrule them when it comes to being the leader of their home.
He can play "nice" with other doggies but since he has such a wonderful, exciting personality and loves to play rough, we feel he'd do best and would blossom in a home where he gets to be the only dog.

Putt-Putt had the opportunity to attend training with a wonderful trainer and this is what they had to say: "We're excited to say he's been getting to play out in the yard with other dogs, and is having a wonderful time being the official 'greeter' of each dog in our facility!  When he gets a bit on the tired side, he lets them know he's had enough by becoming a bit pushy with them, so we let him relax and just chill out for the rest of the day, and he's fine."

This goofy, fun boy comes with a ton of personality and charm!  He loves to make his human laugh at his funny antics, but make no mistake about it: the Puttmeister loves hard, and doesn't give his heart easily.  But when he does, he gives you all of himself - heart and soul!

He loves affection and getting tons of snuggles in with his person, but he also loves a great game of "tug-o-war" with the rope toys, and simply adores playing "chase" or just the simple joy of laying quietly at your feet, happily chewing on his bones.

His foster mom says he thinks he's a lap dog and will try to literally fill your lap when it comes to snuggle-time.  "He's a big dog in a low-rider doggy body," she chuckles.

The ideal home for Putt-Putt would be either a active owner who loves sports and lots of activity, or a family with older kids, and no other dogs or cats in the home.  He would also require a secure, fenced-in yard with a locked gate and room to exercise in the yard.

This sweet dog also comes with free training classes at the "Must Love Dogs" academy in Marietta, GA, so his ideal family would continue to take him to classes and work with the trainer at their facility.

Since Putt-Putt is so strong, physically, we believe that with the right, proper training, he could possibly be a good candidate for agility training with an active owner.

Putt-Putt is ready to find his "best buddy" to spend the rest of his days with.  Are YOU that person?  If you'd like to find out more about him, you may contact his foster, Sandy, by email at sverrilli@gmail.com, or you may contact Angels Rescue directly at info@angelsrescue.org.
