Extra Special Pup Looking For Her Own Family

Seven-month-old lab mix is available for adoption.

Although we always hesitate to use the word "perfect" to describe one of our pets (just as there aren't any "perfect" people!), we think sweet Alessa, a 7-month-old, 22 pound lab-mix, comes pretty darn close.

Like so many other rescued animals, Alessa had a rough time during the first part of her life.  She somehow ended up in a shelter, which was scary to a young pup who was only 4 months old at the time.  She was one of the lucky ones: A rescue group saw her picture, fell in love with her, and picked her up just hours before she was scheduled to be euthanized. Unfortunately, she picked up a serious illness while in the shelter, but was a very brave and resilient girl who recovered with help from great veterinarians, as well as and love and prayers from so many supporters.

After she recovered, Alessa went to her foster home where lots of toys, love and a nice, warm bed awaited her.  Most of all, she has wonderful children to play with whenever she wants, and she loves doing that. She would do great in a home with children and a fenced-in backyard in which to romp and run around.

Barking doesn’t seem to be important to Alessa unless she’s playing…and even then, it’s just a little bark just to let you know she’s having a great time. She loves to go for rides in the car and enjoys new adventures with her foster family.

Alessa is wonderful around new people. Those who meet her seem to really like petting her soft fur and they always compliment her good manners. Alessa’s foster family is teaching her it isn’t polite to jump up on people and since she’s such a smart girl, she is quickly learning all of her manners. She is also working on how to walk on the leash without pulling, and this sweet, eager-to-please little girl is quickly getting the hang of it.

Alessa loves to sleep in her crate at night and she also like to hang out there when no one is home. She is almost finished with house-training. Her foster mom says Alessa has a wonderful temperament and would be a great dog for anyone’s home and heart. Alessa tries so hard to be the "perfect little girl."  Won’t you consider allowing her to love you for a lifetime?
