'Gentle Giant' Needs Forever Home

Artie is a 2-3 year old Collie mix with a happy-go-lucky attitude, great around children and other dogs.

Artie was at a county animal shelter facing bleak prospects when a kind-hearted veterinarian decided that this “sweet, goofy boy” needed to be saved. After he contacted Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, our volunteers worked hard to raise funds for Artie’s care and to find a foster home for him, and then…to Artie’s great joy!...several drove to the shelter to pick him up.

This happy-go-lucky dog is about 2-3 years old and appears to be a Collie mixed with a larger breed. At approximately 80 pounds, his foster mom calls him her “gentle giant,” and he has turned out to be just as lovable as we all expected …. and WONDERFUL with children and other dogs. We asked his foster mom to describe him, and here is what she said.

“Artie wins the heart of anyone who meets him. It's hard not to smile when Artie is around. Among many of Artie's great qualities is his love of children. He has literally spent hours having his toes and teeth counted by his 4-year-old human foster brother.

His patience in such situations cannot be beaten! Artie even sported a giant ‘Cat in the Hat’ style hat on Dr. Seuss' birthday alongside his human brother. In fact, Artie is the only dog who has gained 100 percent of my trust around my young children.

Besides his love of children, Artie is a big fan of playing with other dogs. He especially loves to play with dogs his own size! Every dog he meets becomes his best buddy in the end.

Artie is house trained and well past the puppy chewing stage. He is the type of dog that brightens every day with his beautiful doggy smile and his ‘enjoy every minute’ attitude. Adopt Artie and you won't be sorry! He will spend the rest of his life making you laugh and smile.”

Artie has received all basic vet care and is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on routine shots, and tested for heartworm disease.
