Non-Profits making a difference

Gwinnett County Senior Services is committed to providing the county's senior citizens with a wide range of services and programs to help enhance their lives and help maintain their independence. Volunteers help with delivering meals to the elderly, running errands, assisting with light chores, home repairs and much more.

Norcross Cooperative Ministry provides financial and other assistance to families in need. They just announced that 11,825 families were helped in 2010 as a result of their efforts. They gave away 37,588 bags of food, 104,961 articles of clothing and $854,212 in financial assistance in 2010, according to a recent report.

Norcross's Global Soap Project gets area hotels to save unused soap, then repurposes it to send to developing countries. The Project has collected over 50 tons of soap from around the country to produce about 30,000 bars, according to one of their directors. 

“Just” People Inc. is a local organization that provides adults with disabilities with assistance. They lend a hand with house-hunting, job-hunting and other everyday challenges.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is a volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from high-kill centers in north Georgia and providing temporary foster homes for the animals until each can be adopted. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is funded by tax-deductable contributions.
