Peachtree Corners Christian Church Celebrates 25 Years Serving Community

Come join in marking the church's anniversary. Plans include music, barbecue and a special sermon.

Peachtree Corners Christian Church has been serving the community or “shining the light” for 25 years.  In fact, June 12th marks the church's quarter-century anniversary and the entire community is invited to attend the celebration which will include special music by the First Atlanta Chinese Christian Church as well as the Seigakuin Atlanta International School Children's Choir in addition to the Peachtree Corners Christian Church Choir.

The Reverend Kathy McDowell will introduce a very special sermon for the anniversary celebration, delivered by Dr. Fred Craddock, Bandy Distinguished Professor of Preaching and New Testament, Emeritus, in the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Author and world traveler, Dr. Craddock has delivered the Lyman Beecher Lectures at Yale, the Scott Lectures at Claremont School of Theology, the Adams Lectures at Southeastern Baptist Seminary, The Schaff Lectures at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, the Cole Lectures at Vanderbilt, the Westervelt Lectures at Austin Presbyterian Seminary, the Mullins Lectures at Southern Seminary and Earl Lectures at Pacific School of Religion.

For 25 years, the church members have felt a comfort in the fact that everyone knows everyone else at church and that they enjoy getting together - whether for the Easter or Christmas celebrations, the Thanksgiving celebration or even the Pet Blessing Service.  The members also take pride in the fact that they share the workload of operating the church.  To that end they are asking for any volunteers who wish to help, to come by the church on June 11th, the day before the big celebration and help paint, scrub floors and hang pictures in preparation for the anniversary celebration.

The children can also help by donating children’s books to the church in the days and weeks leading up to the celebration – particularly the week before the anniversary celebration, which is Vacation Bible School week.  The books the children donate will be taken back to the Craddock Center Story Express by Dr. Craddock, following the anniversary celebration, so that children who have no books may receive one.

As a part of the festivities celebrating the 25th anniversary, Peachtree Corners Christian Church will also host a barbeque lunch following Dr. Craddock’s sermon on June 12th.   The church has asked that those who wish to attend the barbeque let the church know by calling 770 447-5475 or e-mailing rsvp@peachtreecornerscc.org.
