Walk For Food Allergy Sufferers Set For Oct. 1

Group hopes to raise funds and awareness of issue that affects some 15 million people nationwide.

With two deaths in the Atlanta area last week related to food allergies, the topic has captured much of the local headlines in the past few days. 

Funeral services for  for this weekend. Tyler Davis, a 20-year-old student at Kennesaw State University, is reported to have died Aug. 18 after eating something while on campus.

Both students were reportedly aware of their allergies, something that, according to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), affects almost 15 million Americans.

With the issue on the minds of many at the moment, there is an opportunity to help the cause by turning out to support FAAN fundraiser walks around the country Oct. 1. The 2-mile walk in the Atlanta area will be at Brook Run Park (Dunwoody), 4770 N. Peachtree Road in Atlanta. Sign in is at 9 a.m. with the walk to begin at 10.
