A growler store with 34 different varieties of unique brews is set to open Saturday in Peachtree Corners.
For beer aficionados word that a new growler store was opening in Peachtree Corners has been spreading - and that day has almost arrived. The Peachtree Growler Co. store officially opens Saturday, May 25, complete with the mayor assisting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. The new shop is located at 5450 Peachtree Parkway just a few doors down from the Goodwill store in the Peachtree Parkway Plaza. The new business is owned by Peachtree Corners resident Steve Hamlet, who decided to settle down to a somewhat regular schedule after traveling the world while serving in the Army National Guard for a number of years. Plenty of things remind of us of home - the Forum, the parks, the old schoolhouse, the river. But if you were to choose one image that captures the spirit of Peachtree Corners, what would it be? The school system currently lists over 100 openings for various jobs including paraprofessionals, principals, assistant principals and counselors.

Another prime summer activity -- swimming -- will be available to Gwinnett residents beginning this weekend. County officials have announced that Gwinnett public pools will open on Saturday, May 25. Casey Snyder will replace the retiring Bill Myers as chief effective May 25.
Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services, which serves Gwinnett's 805,000 residents, is getting a new leader and a revamped facility. Gwinnett officials announced Tuesday that Casey Snyder, a 24-year veteran of the department, will replace Bill Myers, who will retire on May 24 after 30 years with the county. Also, the county announced that a $1.3 million expansion of Gwinnett’s Fire Academy will begin this summer. Snyder, who will oversee the department of 800 employees, began his career in emergency services in 1984. “Casey Snyder is the ideal choice to lead Fire and Emergency Services," County Administrator Glenn Stephens said in a news release. A jury is charged with deciding whether the convicted murderer should get the death penalty for murdering her one-time boyfriend.
For several weeks, television viewers have been focused on the trial of Jodi Arias, now convicted of murdering her one-time boyfriend, Travis Alexander. The penalty phase is under way and the jury is to decide whether she gets life in prison or death for the violent crime of which she has been convicted. Initially, the NY Daily Mail reported that Arias had claimed in a television interview that she wanted to die rather than spend the rest of her life in jail. According to a story in Fox News, much as she did throughout the case, Arias has again changed her story. She reportedly now says asking for the death penalty is like asking for assisted suicide, and she wants to spare her family the pain. She is now asking the jury to spare her …
