Peachtree Corners resident Herbert H. Strickland died Wednesday, March 13, 2013. He was 76. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m., Friday, March 15th, in the Worship Center of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church in Peachtree Corners. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16th, in the Worship Center of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland was a U.S. Army veteran and Divisional Sales Manager who retired from RJR Nabisco. Mr. Strickland was very family oriented and heavily involved in the community. Michael Scott Hudgens, 64, of Duluth, a philanthropist and son of the late Gwinnett developer Scott Hudgens Jr., passed away Feb. 6. The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home, located at 5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Peachtree Corners. Mr. Hudgens attended the University of Georgia and was a retired U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed his family, being with friends and working on the family farm, where he spent most of his time. Born on July 30, 1958 in Livonia, Michigan to Marjorie and Ellsworth Chase, Charon earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration from Michigan State University in 1980 and went on to a career with Abbott Laboratories/Hospira before retiring at 50 years of age to start a new career in teaching. LTC Byron Craig Brown (Ret), 67, of Peachtree Corners, GA, died in a traffic accident on Nov 4 in Cobb County. He was born Nov 2 in Aurora, CO, to Byron Winfield and Eleanor Jean Comolli Brown of Greenville, OH. He and his two brothers, Bruce Allen Brown, Manhattan Beach, CA, and Gary Lee Brown, Centralia, WA, moved with their parents to Army posts in Ft. Sam Houston, TX, Ft. Belvoir, VA, and Japan. All three Brown brothers attained Eagle Scout rank and continued the military tradition of the family. Byron graduated from Mt. After a months-long battle, Hannah Rinehart died this morning at 4:15.
Hannah Rinehart, wife of South Gwinnett math teacher Mark Rinehart, passed away this morning at 4:15 a.m. "She is celebrating," Mark wrote on a Facebook page in her honor, "and I am thankful for God allowing me to have the privilege of being her husband while she was here on this Earth. Family was present, and when Hannah was ready to go, she left quickly." Hannah, 32, was a patient care technician in DeKalb County. She and Mark lived in Decatur. She contracted a bacterial infection the last weekend of June which resulted in blood poisoning. Complications led to the amputations of both hands and feet, but the biggest challenge was fluid in her lungs. Yesterday, doctors told the family that she was very, very tired. The 39-year-old Pennsylvania man whose body was found in Peachtree Corners Aug. 13 is remembered by his friends and family.
The discovery of the body of a man in Technology Park last month sent shock waves through the Peachtree Corners community. Police provided little information about the man they would later identify as Ronald Joseph Corona, Jr. of Pennsylvania. But an obituary printed in the Scranton Times on August 30, offers a glimpse of the man whose life ended abruptly at the still-young age of 39. On Aug. 13 when his body was discovered behind an office building in Technology Park, Gwinnett Police first suspected foul play and called in its Homicide unit to investigate. Thursday night Peachtree Corners city leaders approved controversial $2.7 million budget without the support of one of its council members.

After three meetings and two public hearings the Peachtree Corners City Council approved its FY 2013 budget at Thursday's (June 28) Special Called Meeting held at the YMCA. The $2.7 million budget had been a subject of controversy since it was first introduced. Many residents were aghast that a city that was to provide only three services would need that much to operate. The final vote was 6-1 with Post 3 council member, Alex Wright, voting against the budget explaining, "I think we could have accomplished our goals with a little lower number than the $2.7 million."
