Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said that he is "disappointed" by Michael Turner's arrest on DUI charges in Gwinnett, according to a media report. ESPN reported that Smith met with the running back in Smith's office after learning of the arrest early Tuesday on I-85 in unincorporated Norcross. "First and foremost, any time a player sheds negatively on our football team and on our organization, we are very disappointed," Smith said. "This is a legal matter, and it's very well-defined how we have to proceed with it through the league, and we'll let this process run its course." Smith declined to elaborate on Turner's status for Sunday's Falcons game at San Diego. The Falcons are 2-0 this season after Monday's 27-21 over Denver in …

A house divided by NFL fans of Green Bay and Atlanta will at least get a clean bedroom from the outcome.
The NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons has created at least one divided house in metro Atlanta. I have lived in Atlanta for more than half of my life (we won’t go into how many years that is). I am an Atlanta Falcons fan, with one exception: When the Dirty Birds play the Green Bay Packers — like they do this Sunday night — I see only green-and-gold. Yep, I’m a Cheesehead. That’s not a big deal, with one exception: My 14-year-old son is partial to the red-and-black of the Falcons. He’s a big fan, with more Falcons gear than most of his friends. Yep, I failed miserably as a football father. You can probably guess that the house will hear a little bit of trash-talking this weekend. Of how Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez and …

Professional football came to Norcross High School for its annual "Friday Night Lights" series.
There was plenty of red and black on the Blue Devils football field, but fans didn't seem to mind as the Atlanta Falcons took over the high school field for the "Friday Night Lights" scrimmage last week. A number of spectators in the stands were Norcross High School supporters including Carol and Blake Johnson. The couple had triple reasons for attending the scrimmage. Their love of Falcons football, and their daughter, Katie plays in the Blue Devils Marching Band while son, Hunter, plays on the lacrosse team. In the free event the Atlanta Falcons ran drills and started an 11 on 11 scrimmage before lightning and ominous weather sent fans and players home in a hurry. But before everyone hurried off to escape the approaching storm, Patch …
