Band Boosters Keep Blue Devils Marching

To ensure that the Norcross High School Band is able to outfit, practice, and travel to games and competitions, the Band Boosters are involved in a myriad of fund-raising efforts.

It’s a crisp fall Friday night, and just as on many such evenings around the country, high school football is the order of the day. On this particular night, the Norcross Blue Devils, 5-0 thus far this season, are facing the rival North Gwinnett Bulldogs, who come in at 4-1. The teams are ready. The cheerleaders are pumped. And the fans are excited, due in no small part to the raucous Norcross Marching Band providing the atmosphere that separates high school football from any other event. But just as with the teams themselves, this moment does not come without many hours of preparation, participation, and perspiration on the part of the band members, director, and boosters. Winter Band and Chorus Concert at Wesleyan High School

Don’t miss the Winter Concert at Wesleyan H.S. this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the Powell Auditorium. It will be a “Glee-filled” experience.

One and all are welcome to attend the Winter Band and Chorus Concert held at Wesleyan H.S., Wednesday, February 16th, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.  The program presented by the Concert Band, is directed by Jeff Foster who is in his 13th year at Wesleyan. He explains that this concert is a “culmination of this years work.”  The concert serves as a trial run for a band competition that the Concert Band will be taking part in on April 2nd. Foster says that performing this music helps the students develop their musicianship. In the fall the band has to focus on marching as well as playing, but now they can put more emphasis on the technical parts of their music.
