Caribou Coffee Announces It's Closing Its Doors

The popular Peachtree Corners coffee shop and meeting spot is going out of business. Its corporate owners have decided to pull the plug on the location at The Forum.

"We were notified last Friday (April 5), that our last day would be Sunday," said Fran Gunther, the store manager. "We were all totally surprised." She said the store employs five people, where they will go, she wasn't sure. Signs are posted on the front and back doors of the store alerting customers of the upcoming closure. Gunther said the reaction from customers has been a mixture of surprise and sadness with many left to wonder where they will go after Caribou Coffee closes. The walls are filled with framed art created by a local artist - and for sale too. There's plenty of comfortable chairs, a fireplace and free Wi Fi. Hours: Mon - Thu, 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Fri, 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Sat, 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Sun, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. 5135 Peachtree Parkway…

View Finder: A Photo Gallery of Shoppers at The Forum

Each Thursday we'll focus our camera lens on popular places in Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake

In this day of "Press 1 to continue in English" and "Please have your model number and date of purchase ready," there is a great need for person-to-person contact. I don't know about you but I don't want to send my next payment to an electronic voice on the other end of the telephone, I want someone to make me think I mean something more to the company rather than simply a source of revenue.  The successful companies of the future will dump the dumb synthesized voices for the warmth and friendliness of real representatives that take a personal interest in their customers. Caribou Coffee at The Forum is a great example of how things should work. Walk in often enough and soon you'll be greeted by your first name and there's a good chance the…

I love Caribou, too Linda! Pardon my slow reply to your welcomed comment. My editor keeps me busy and "that's a good thing" as a well known talk show host Martha Stewart would say.   more ›
