Chandler Massey Wins His First Emmy

The former Norcross High School student and Peachtree Corners resident won his first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor Saturday night.

Chandler Massey has been collecting acting accolades since moving from his family home in Peachtree Corners to Hollywood at the tender age of 18 when he landed a part in a long-running TV show -- and Saturday night he added another to his illustrious career - an Emmy. Massey, who has been starring on the daytime drama, "Days of Our Lives," since 2009 was named "Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor" for his role as Will Horton. It was his second nomination but the first time winning the award. "Wow, oh my gosh," said an excited Massey as he stood on stage after receiving the award. Peachtree Corners Now Has a Film Star to Call Its Own

Chandler Massey, a Norcross High School graduate makes his film debut in '16-Love." The movie is playing in Lawrenceville this weekend.

  Excitement is building this week for the Massey family of Peachtree Corners. Their 21-year-old son, Chandler Massey, a Norcross High School graduate who landed a role on a daytime television show two years ago, is heading to the big screen this week with the debut of his first film. "16-Love," is to be released this week in over 10 major cities including Lawrenceville and will be showing at AMC Colonial Theaters Jan. 20-26. Massey honed his acting skills under the guidance of his high school's drama teacher, Gina Parrish, who couldn't be more proud of her former student in his upcoming film debut. 'Days of Our Lives' Fans Flock to See TV Stars

Cast members from daytime TV drama delight fans in nearby Duluth.

Some 1,000 fans of the long-running daytime TV drama "Days of Our Lives" came out to the Duluth Festival Center to meet and greet members of the cast Monday (Aug. 15). Actors Patrick Muldoon (Austin), Susan Hayes (Julie), Drake Hogestyn (John), Kate Mansi (Abigail) and Bill Hayes (Doug) arrived around 1:30 to cheers from fans and flashes from their cameras. The actors talked with fans, signed autographs and posed for pictures until nearly 6 p.m. to make sure everyone in line had an opportunity to meet them. The Duluth visit was a followup to a stop in March in Suwanee where some fans were disappointed after standing in line for several hours. 'Days Of Our Lives' Cast Members In Town

Cast members scheduled to sign headshots, autographs, books and memorabilia in Duluth today.

Three cast members of the soap opera 'Days of Our Lives" will sign headshots, autographs, coffee table books and memorabilia from 1 to 4 p.m. today (Aug. 15) at the Duluth Festival Center on the Town Green next to City Hall. Crowds are expected to line up to meet and mingle with the cast during the book signing tour, a followup to a March visit in Suwanee that attracted thousands of fans from all over the Southeast. This time, former cast members Drake Hogestyn ("John Black"), Patrick Muldoon ("Austin") and Judi Evans ("Adrienne") will appear. They will be returning to the cast in September, according to tour organizers. "Days Of Our Lives" is in its 45th season as a daytime TV show, and it is the longest-running scripted drama in NBC …

'Days Of Our Lives' Back in Town for Return Engagement

Stars of popular daytime show to make guest appearance on Monday in Duluth.

Fans of "Days Of Our Lives" who did not -- or could not -- get enough of their favorite show in Suwanee last spring will get another chance: Monday in Duluth. Tour organizers and Duluth city officials announced Monday that the national tour of the NBC show's cast members will make a book signing stop at the Duluth City Hall area 1-4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15. Headshots and memorabilia are also in play. A return appearance in the Atlanta area had been considered since March, when thousands of people from all over the Southeast turned out at Suwanee City Hall. 'Days Of Our Lives' Cast Takes Center Stage

Thousands turn out Monday in Suwanee to see the longtime TV show's cast members.

Some have said that events at City Hall in Suwanee are like a soap opera. Monday, they were right. In what undoubtedly was a one-day record number of people for Suwanee's 2-year-old City Hall, fans of "Days Of Our Lives," a daytime television institution, came from as far away as Alabama and North Carolina to see cast members and purchase books. The event, coordinated through the Gwinnett County Public Library, was in conjunction with the show's 45th anniversary and a book to commemorate that date. The cast members present included one of Gwinnett's own, Norcross High grad Chandler Massey, who plays Will Horton.  Among those attending were Massey's parents, Lewis and Amy, his brother and sister, and his grandparents. Former Norcross High School student Chandler Massey now living the Hollywood dream.

Peachtree Corners has a lot going for it -- and now its residents can add another notch in their collective belt of accolades -- they may now proudly claim their community is home to a  TV celebrity. Chandler Massey has a starring role on NBC's "Days of Our Lives," a long-running daytime soap opera. A 2009 graduate of Norcross High School, he's the eldest son of Lewis (the former Secretary of State for Georgia) and Amy Massey, who live in Peachtree Corners along with their two other children.  Massey also has had roles on several TV shows including "Army Wives" and "One Tree Hill" and will be making his debut on the big screen in a teen comedy called "16 Love" (formerly titled "Smash"), due out later this year.
