Nancy Yancey Changing Lives of Homeless Families

Rainbow Village CEO Nancy Yancey leads transitional housing program aimed at reducing vicious cycle of homelessness, poverty and domestic abuse in North Metro Atlanta.

In 1991 Christ Episcopal Church parishioner Josh Costell felt the urging in his heart to donate $25,000 to begin an outreach ministry for homeless families. As fellow parishioner Nancy Yancey, from Peachtree Corners, sat in the pew across the aisle, she had no idea at the time how that gift would change the course of her life and the lives of homeless families. In a few months time, the church allocated an additional $10,000 from its budget. Georgia Power offered a house in Norcross for a mere $1 per year, and church volunteers rallied to make the house ready. In the spring Rainbow House opened its first family home. Vigil in Memory of Missing Mom Planned

Nique Leili's body was found almost a week ago.

Family and friends of Nique Leili will remember the Lawrenceville mother at a candlelight vigil tonight near where her body was found.  According to Tweets from Leili's sister, Amy Elk, the vigil will take place Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at the entrance of the Oak Village subdivision where Leili lived. Leili's body was found in that same subdivision nearly a week ago.  Leili's funeral will be held at Athens First United Methodist Church Saturday at 11am. Elk is asking for donations to be made in Leili's name to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
