RaceTrac Responds to Food Recall

The convenience store chain said the items from its stores had been removed prior to Flying Food Group's recall.

RaceTrac Petroleum released the following statement in response to the voluntary product recall issued Thursday by Georgia–based supplier, Flying Food Group:  “RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members of paramount importance. On July 25, 2011, prior to any official announcement, we learned of a pending voluntary product recall of USDA/FDA-regulated food distributed in Georgia by one of our food suppliers, Flying Food Group. As a proactive measure to protect the best interest of our guests, RaceTrac preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on July 25. Local Starbucks, RaceTrac Involved in Food Recall

Some 40 items recalled by a Gwinnett-based food manufacturer.

Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake residents who frequent Starbucks and RaceTrac may want to beware of a recent food recall issued by the FDA. Earlier this month, Flying Food Group, located in Lawrenceville, recalled sandwiches which were sold at Starbucks throughout Gwinnett County. Yesterday the Food and Drug Administration announced an additional recall of some 40 items including sandwiches, parfaits and salads because they potentially could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reported illnesses related to this issue.  The products were made for Starbucks, RaceTrac and Core-mark Atlanta and distributed in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
